In 2020 Julie-ann was Highly Commended in the Forward Prize for Poetry 2020/2021 and Highly Commended in the Bridport prize. She has won several awards including first prize in the Frogmore Poetry Prize and the New Writer Poetry Competition Short Collection prize, and was a runner-up in the Mslexia Poetry Competition three times.
She’s had poems included in over twenty anthologies and many published in magazines and journals including Poetry Ireland Review, Agenda, The Stand, The Moth, Cyphers, The Reader, Raceme, Under the Radar, Butcher’s Dog, The Reader, Poetry News, Popshot magazine, Interpreter’s House, Brittle Star, One Hand Clapping and The New Welsh Review.
In 2018 she won second prize in the Battered Moons Poetry Competition and was shortlisted in the Strokestown Poetry Festival Competition and both shortlisted and longlisted in the Falmouth Contemporary Poetry Festival Competition. In 2019 she won second prize in the Buzzwords Poetry Competition
